The alternative is worse. If we dont bail them the economy will spiral farther downward.

No.
If these companies need to be bailed out to rescue the US economy, then the government needs to throw out the executives of these companies, and make sure they don’t get a golden parachute.
There should also be investigations into the legality of the executives actions, and they should be thrown in prison if found guilty.

Should the executives who work for the big finance companies and who earned big salaries/bonuses when times were good have to give back some of that money if their core strategy which earned that money back then has caused the need for a big tax payer bail-out via Fed action now?
That is the question..
Look up Resolution Trust Corporation on the internet. This is deja vu all over again.
Is the US taxpayer doomed to see this repeated again and again and again?

No, I think the CEOs salaries for should be part of the monies to pay off the debt. The deregulation of the Republicans caused this. McCain needs to kick in monies…he is to blame since he worked with Reagan on this. Just one way of transferring the wealth out of the middle class to the rich!

No, let’s allow the society to collapse.
Remember it was those same tax payers who elected big corporation ass-licking greedy pigs like Reagan, Cheney the Dick, Dumbya, Old fart Bush, etc., who, in turn, created the regulations that allowed the model of capitalism that has led to this crisis. Therefore, they’re only getting what they asked for when in their narrow-minded, uneducated, stupidity they allowed thugs like Dumbya to ruin the economy.

Since the Bush Administration thinks we should socialize the debt of these companies, doesn’t that make them Socialists? If we are going to start nationalizing companies, how about we start with Exxon, Standard, ConocoPhillips, GlaxoSmithKline, etc.
