casino hosts are not generally allowed to accept cash tips for guests, though small amounts (less than $50) will probably not get anyone in trouble. anything higher is a conflict of interest. the casinos pay a generous salary to hosts to make money for the casinos. too many cash tips opens the door for hosts to give comps based on what the host would make on the side, not what the casino would earn through gambling. large amounts of cash passed between players and hosts is highly suspicious and could get the host fired on the spot if caught.

it is more proper to just buy your host a nice present. gift cards, flowers, perfume or cologne, a nice bottle of wine...that sort of stuff. if your host is a sports fan, a bet on his/her favorite team is okay too. something personal to show the host you care about them, and they'll keep you in mind the next time a great offer comes up.

the absolute best "gift" you can give a host is a letter to the casino manager saying how good a job the host is doing. that goes in the personnel file and can be helpful when it comes time for getting a raise or promotion.

I got comped 2 nights with meals at the Riviera out in Vegas 2 years ago. I did tip him because these folks rely on tips as well. It seems everyone out in Vegas gets tipped.
I gave the person $30 which would have been 15% of a 2-night stay plus meals. Anytime I get something in a casino I look to tip. But it is up to you whether you want to or not.
