Whats your conclusion on the whole NBA gambling ordeal as well as the Spurs taking home the title?
One Love asked:
i no bcz of this gambling situation people will now always wonder if the Spurs really took home the championship fairly..and thats what sucks for the Spurs bcz even the players themselves might have pondering questions..i’m not exactly a Spurs fan but i saw them through the whole season and they worked incrediably hardd so i give them props. I no the ref stated that he was going to list 20 other refs involved in this gambling ordeal so i guess we don’t no how many games have been screwed. So i’m wondering do you think the Spurs won fairly? What’s your Justification?

That whole season should just be gone. No more Stern hire good refs.

Finals, yes. The referee in question did work some earlier games against the Suns/Spurs though.

Some of us have said for years that something was wrong with the officials. It just seemed that they would call fouls for nothing if it was against one team but the other team could do just about whatever it wanted to. The scandal does hurt teams. Did they win because they played better or because the officials who were calling the game wanted them to, did they lose because they were the favorite and someone had bet on the other team both situations are possible. This will haunt teams for the next few years. Fans will say their favorite team lost because of the officials not because they played badly. I would not want to be an official who makes a bad call for the next several seasons. They are all going to be under a microscope for a good long while.

I love the Spurs. I mean you could see that they really wanted it. Yes, there were a few bad calls but to me they shoud still be considered the champions. They deserved it no matter what. But it sucks the whole gambling situation. I mean what has happened to sports these days?

So the Spurs are innocent bystanders and you want to punish them for the actions of someone else. So, I guess Ron Goldman had it coming to him. I think any ref who was involved in this whole torrid situation should be banned for life. But don’t blame innocent bystanders. And I wonder if anyone would be questioning the Championship if the Mavs or Suns had won it. It seems every time the Spurs win one, the rest of the league makes an excuse on how they stole it. Because they couldn’t possibly be the best team in the league, coming from a small market.

as a mavs fan, i hated the spurs taking it home, but as a basketball fan they did deserve it. I think there are illegal gambling happening in all sports, im not saying everyone is involved but every reff has the power to chagne the outcome of a game, and every person alive likes and dislikes people…so you can’t tell me some reffs don’t make calls based on their emotions. Donahughes (spelling?) emotion was greed.

The suns deserves atleast a NBA finals run. THey got screwed over hard.
Spurs are good and all,
but when Tony parker runs in the lane, fouls get call to take out the opposing team best PF or C so Timmy and Parker can easily get buckets in the lane.
