DL12 asked:

Going to Vegas in August and staying at the Tahiti Village Resort with my wife. We are going to be visiting family, but we will be going out at night to casinos, shows and restaurants. No clubs. Should I bring a lot of dress clothes? How hot is it over there? Is it ok to wear shorts and tees and sneakers? Thanks.

Accurate floor-plans of Las Vegas casinos?

Thursday, January 29th, 2009
d.hatch75 asked:

Where can I find accurate floor-plans of various casinos in Las Vegas? I have some floor-plans already, given by the casinos themselves, but they don’t come with a scale so I have no way of measuring distances, sizes, etc. The most important thing I need is the scale of measurement on the floorplans. Better yet, if you can find architectural drawings of any casinos on the Strip, it would be much appreciated. I understand how dubious and suspicious this question sounds, but I assure you that I have good intentions and am just doing a given assignment that links my two main subjects of architecture and statistics! (I’m a mature student)

Many thanks in advance.
A heist? Hardly; not worth the investment in time, effort or money. Considering I have several copies of accurate floor-plans that were freely and publically available, I highly doubt they’d consider it a “threat” to have such documents. And I agree that it isn’t. The floor-plans are given out as a guide for visitors to the resorts, it’s hardly criminal… I just want to know the scale of the maps/floor-plans.
Please note, lvgeno, that I never asked for floor schedules. And I apologise for using the term “floor-plans”, I must have meant “floor maps”. It really can’t be an issue in terms of security to just have what is, for all intents and purposes, a scale-bar to go with these “maps” that I have. Or indeed to go with any other “maps” that already come with a scale-bar.
Bob K and zoeyjoey, that’s the site I originally got the floor maps from, though unfortunately they come with no scale. Are there any similar ones out there with a scale?

For a cheap experiance in Las Vegas, would Excalibur or Circus Circus be a better deal?

Monday, January 26th, 2009
Rose M asked:

My family is planning a trip to Vegas at the beginning of August. There will be 4 adults, one teen, and one older teen. We are looking for cheap places to stay on the Strip that have theming, and we’ve narrowed it down to Circus Circus and Excalibur.

Circus circus has all the circus shows for free, plus the Adventuredome that’s attached, but Excalibur is closer to the other hotels on the Strip. (we plan on visiting and walking around all the other casinos)

Your opinions?

Is gambling a viable career in Las Vegas ?

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009
Black Jack asked:

I move out to Las Vegas from Los Angeles at the end of July with $45000 in savings, no job, and my car. As soon as I came out here, I promised myself that I would look for a job in my field and starting working. Well, to make a long story short I started going to the casinos on the strip almost every day and in less than a month I have managed to win $5000 playing blackjack. A game that I am extremely good at . I am not a compulsive gambler by any means and can stop any time. But due to the convenience of casinos open 24-7, the flexibility of playing when I want to, being able to work for myself, set my own hours, and the upside potential of quick earnings and tax benefits ; I am beginning to feel like I could gamble for a living . I am literally going into the casino and making $200-$300 per day effortlessly and I have not had 1 day where i have lost. I feel excited about this and didnt know that gambling could actually be a career. Shoudl I continue or stop and look for a job ?
